Concert organizers have confirmed that Kendrick Lamar will be Sunday’s featured headliner at the 2018 Hangout Music Festival. The 30-year-old rapper is currently taking a break from his latest tour before heading back overseas for the second leg of his six-month performances. Hangout fans are excited by the possibility of Lamar being well-rested by the time the festival rolls around in May 2018.
2018 Hangout Lineup
Lamar is just one of many enticing acts that will take the stage in Gulf Shores, Alabama. As usual, the three-day concert will feature some of the top musicians from various musical genres, including rap, rock, and pop. Friday’s headliner will be The Killers, who are currently on the road supporting their latest album, Wonderful Wonderful. The 2017 effort rewarded the band with its first time atop the US Billboard Chart. On Saturday evening, The Chainsmokers will take the stage last. The duo was recently ranked third on a Forbes’ list of World’s Highest Paid DJs of the year.
Finally, the festival will conclude with a Sunday night performance by the most popular rapper on earth. Lamar will take the stage after notable acts, Foster The People, Awolnation, and Slightly Stoopid entertain the crowds earlier in the day. While the card is subject to change, festival attendees can be assured of an unforgettable experience. The official dates for the upcoming festival are May 17 – 19.
Hangout Festival History
These concerts have taken place on the third weekend of May since 2010. The concourse includes a main stage, a “surf” stage, and a boom boom tent, all for the fans’ enjoyment. What originally started as a small festival quickly turned into a marquee event with acts like Stevie Wonder, The Foo Fighters, and Tom Petty gracing the stage over the years. The only blemish on Hangout’s resume was last year’s abrupt cancellation from headliner, Frank Ocean. Thankfully, Twenty One Pilots and others were able to make last year’s festival another overwhelming success.
